WHI invests only where the team
has conviction in the quality of
the opportunity and its potential
to provide sufficiently robust risk-adjusted returns.
WHI’s investment culture is grounded in the core investment principles of its founder, Irving B. Harris—namely, striking the delicate balance between generating superior returns over long periods of time and preserving capital during turbulent markets. To achieve this, WHI’s investment team applies deep fundamental research across all investment disciplines and invests only where the team has conviction in the quality of the opportunity and its potential to provide sufficiently robust risk-adjusted returns. In order to provide our clients with a comprehensive set of investment opportunities across a broad spectrum of asset classes, we supplement the investment activities of our in–house investment team with the selective use of investment managers across the United States and around the world. We believe this hybrid approach ensures our clients’ assets are safeguarded by managers who are “best in class”. This allows us to capitalize on opportunities across this broad spectrum while still monitoring and controlling risk.
Our investment and wealth management teams work closely with our clients to create strategic asset allocation targets that appropriately match their investment objectives. In addition to our cash management capabilities, we allocate our clients’ capital to a variety of fixed income, equity, real estate and alternative investment managers. WHI also maintains its own in-house team of equity portfolio managers to invest our clients' core equity capital based on long term fundamental valuations.
